Single Scheme Training Resources – Video Library
The Single Scheme Project Team will be engaged in the development and delivery of Single Scheme training videos covering key areas of Scheme administration. These video resources will be published to this webpage on an ongoing basis.
Important: The content provided in the training videos should not be viewed in isolation and should be considered along with the suite of other administration supports and resources available in the Employers area of our website, in particular, our Employer Toolkits and Administrator FAQ document. Recruitment – Pension Scheme Membership Assignment
Context: This training video focuses primarily on the Applicant Declaration Form template available in our Recruitment Toolkit. It also references the other Employer resources available on our website as well as the Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and Other Provisions) Act 2012 referred to as the “2012 Act” throughout the video.
Purpose: The purpose of this video is to provide Administrators with an overview of the information needed at the recruitment and onboarding stage in order to make the right decision on which pension scheme to assign a new recruit to a pensionable post into. The video is complemented by a table linking to other important resources on this website that Administrators may wish to refer to for further guidance.

Annual Administration Activities
Context: This training video focuses primarily on the legal requirement on Relevant Authorities to issue Annual Benefit Statements to members of the Single Scheme. It also covers, briefly, some other key annual administration activities that are required to be carried out by public service bodies – the Pensioner Declaration Exercise and DPER’s annual survey of Single Scheme membership. The video references the Employer resources available on our website including the suggested Annual Benefit Statement template available in our Annual Administration Activities toolkit. It also points to relevant provisions set out in the Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and Other Provisions) Act 2012 referred to as the “2012 Act” throughout the video.
Purpose: The purpose of this video is to provide Administrators with information on the requirement to issue Annual Benefit Statements and focuses on the suggested Annual Benefit Statement template available in the Employers area of our website in the Annual Administration Activities toolkit. It provides details on completing the various parts of our suggested annual benefit statement template. The video will also provide information on the Pensioner Declaration Exercise and DPER’s annual survey of Single Scheme membership. Leaving Employment
Context: This training video focuses primarily on what is required by Relevant Authorities where members of the Single Scheme leave pensionable employment other than through retirement or death. The video references the Employer resources available on our website including the suggested Leaver Statement template available in our Leavers toolkit. It also points to relevant provisions set out in the Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and Other Provisions) Act 2012.
Purpose: The purpose of this video is to provide Administrators with information on the Leaver administration process and focuses on the suggested Leaver Statement template available in the Employers area of our website Leavers toolkit. It sets out the various categories of Leaver and the administration required in each instant. The video is complemented by a table linking to other important resources on this website that Administrators may wish to refer to for further guidance.

Contributions and Retirement Benefits Calculations
Context: This training video focuses on how to calculate contributions and retirement benefits under the terms of the Single Public Service Pension Scheme. While it uses standard accrual members in the examples provided, the mechanisms set-out also apply to other membership categories listed in Appendix B of Circular 11 of 2014.
Purpose: The purpose of this video is to provide Administrators with an overview of the key HR and Payroll variables needed in order to calculate member contributions and retirement benefits under the terms of the Single Scheme. Purchase of Single Scheme Retirement Benefits
Context: This training video focuses on what is provided for in the Single Scheme purchase regulations and provides information on member eligibility criteria and the calculation of limits and costings associated with the purchase of additional retirement benefits.
Purpose: The purpose of this video is to provide Administrators with an overview of the purchase facility rules and provide information on the eligibility criteria and information needed in order to calculate pension and lump-sum purchase limits as well as calculating the cost of purchase of additional retirement benefits. Transfer of Single Scheme Retirement Benefits
Context: This training video focuses on what is provided for in the Single Scheme transfer regulations and sets out information on Scheme member eligibility criteria as well as the calculation of limits and costings associated with the inward transfer to the Single Scheme by way of a Transfer Value of certain Revenue approved retirement benefits.
Purpose: The purpose of this video is to provide Administrators with an overview of the operation of the Single Scheme transfer facility providing information on the member-eligibility criteria as well as the HR/Payroll and Pension data needed in order to calculate pension and lump-sum limits where a Transfer Value can be used to buy additional Scheme benefits.
